Comparing Warranties
To find the total value of the contract, simply figure out the total square footage under contract and divide that into the total price. Most contractors only offer a warranty above their pipe. For example, a 100 linear foot home would cost you $4,000.00. Divide that by 200 (2 feet wide x 100 feet length) = $20.00. This means that you are paying $20.00 per foot of warranty.
In comparison, we can offer a warranty that works out to about $3.26 per foot. We can do this by extending the warranty to cover the entire floor (25 feet x 25 feet = 625 square feet) and the wall (an average of 6 feet x 100 feet = 600 square feet). If you add 600 + 625 you get 1,225 square feet of warranty. The original price of the contract was $4,000.00, so you divide that by 1,225 feet, and you get $3.26 per square foot of warranty.
